The story behind the sign.
Some projects are worth more than a photo. These are the programs where the planning, the coordination, and the craft all show up in the finished work.
Lighting the way through the Southwestern Medical District
Dallas, Texas · 2019
The Southwestern Medical District covers some of the busiest medical ground in Texas — UT Southwestern, Parkland Hospital, and Children's Medical Center Dallas, all sharing the same corridor. For patients arriving under stress, the hardest part of the visit was often just finding the right building.
The answer was a single, unified sign system: more than sixty blue wayfinding signs threading the district and the UT Southwestern campus, plus five white gateway monuments that light up at night. One gateway anchors each end of Harry Hines Boulevard, with the others at Medical District Drive and Bengal Street, along Inwood Road near Southwestern Medical Avenue, and at Inwood and Forest Park.
The details are where a wayfinding program earns its keep. Emergency routes are called out in red so a driver in crisis can find the ER at a glance. North Campus driveways carry the campus's own N1 and N2 designations rather than inventing new names, so the signs match how staff and returning patients already talk about the place.
Getting there took years of coordination — three separate institutions agreeing on one visual standard, then layers of approvals from the City of Dallas. The result is a district that finally reads as one place instead of three.

A capital city finds its way: Alb To The Core
Albany, New York · 2025
Downtown Albany's Capital Wayfinding Program set out to do more than point people toward parking. Built around the city's "Alb To The Core" identity, it gives New York's capital a single, confident voice on the street — for visitors arriving at the Capitol, for residents crossing between neighborhoods, and for anyone trying to find their way to the riverfront.
Corbin Design led the design and planning. SSC Signs & Lighting handled fabrication and installation across the downtown core — sixty-nine signs delivered to a municipal standard, coordinated with the City of Albany and the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District.
Municipal work carries constraints private sites don't: public right-of-way, utility conflicts, historic districts, and a downtown that has to keep running while you install. Sequencing the work so the city stayed open was as much of the job as the signs themselves.
One service call becomes an 18-store statewide program
Statewide Texas · June 2026
H-E-B asked SSC to replace exterior signage and restore LED service at a Texas store as part of a broader capital improvement program. After the initial install, the curbside building signs stopped lighting up at night — a visible problem at one of the busiest storefronts in the state.
Access was the hard part. The work could only happen after hours, in a tight 8 PM–5 AM window, and the failed unit sat above the produce department — reachable only with a specialty sliding-deck lift. SSC's service team diagnosed the root cause as a power-supply and wiring fault inside the sign cabinet, sourced the right lift equipment, and scheduled the repair around the store's operating restrictions.
Throughout, the team kept H-E-B's facilities and IT stakeholders updated in writing at every stage — technician scheduling, equipment sourcing, and repair timelines. The technician restored the sign to 100%, and SSC followed through by clearing all of the old signage per the client's request.
The follow-through mattered more than the single repair. On the strength of it, H-E-B selected SSC to lead its 2026 Sign Refresh across 18 stores statewide — the third consecutive year SSC has managed an annual statewide H-E-B signage program.

A national rental brand, a demanding airport install
Greenville-Spartanburg Intl. Airport (GSP) — Greer, SC · June 2026
Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport's Consolidated Rental Agency Center (CONRAC) houses every rental-car operation under one roof — which makes brand visibility a high-priority requirement for a national operator like Avis Budget Group. The facility needed a new signage installation, with no existing SSC–Avis relationship at the location to build on.
Airport CONRAC work is among the most demanding signage environments there is: high foot traffic, strict brand standards, complex logistics, and multiple stakeholders who all have to sign off. SSC proposed and scoped the program, and Avis Budget Group executed the agreement directly in September 2025.
SSC fabricated and delivered the signage to spec and completed the installation to Avis Budget Group's satisfaction — establishing SSC as a proven vendor for national rental-car signage at commercial airport facilities.
Avis Budget Group operates rental-car facilities at over 900 locations across North America. A proven install at GSP is the door to a much larger national program.
“Enclosed is the contract for the signage installation at GSP. I look forward to working with SSC Signs.”

Restoring a Dallas landmark: the Forest Theater marquee
Forest Theater — Dallas, Texas · 2026
The historic Forest Theater is one of Dallas's most recognizable landmarks, and its vertical blade marquee is the piece the city knows it by. SSC was selected to restore it — not a typical fabrication job, but a landmark restoration where precision, coordination, and execution all had to be exact.
The marquee came down as the restoration began, then went back up section by section — the letters reset in stages with a crane until FOREST once again read down the full height of the blade above the theater.
Projects like this make the real lesson visible: most signage problems don't come from fabrication. They come from missed surveys, poor communication, and breakdowns in execution. That's where a landmark job is won or lost.
SSC's approach is built to remove that risk — eliminate surprises before install, lock schedules early and hold them, and deliver consistency across every location. That's why projects move faster, issues drop, and total cost comes down.
